The Role of Cable Wire
Cable wires are installed on each side of a garage door. With the help of extension and torsion springs, these cable wires allow the door to move up and down smoothly. When a cable wire breaks, the other cable wire will suffer an additional strain. Eventually, it will also fail.
It will be attached at either end of the torsion spring shaft. The cable wires unwrap or wrap around the drum as the torsion spring turns it. This process allows the door to go up or down. When the doors are lowered, the spring winds up.

Apply a silicone-based lubricant to those parts at least twice a year. This will help to keep them moving smoothly and reduce wear and tear. Keeping the tracks clean and aligned is as important as regular maintenance. Use a cloth to wipe down the tracks and ensure they are clean and debris-free.
If you notice any misalignments, contact a professional. Testing the door balance can also help keep your cables performing safely. Disconnect the door opener and open the door manually. When you let go, the door should remain in place. If it falls or rises, it could be a sign that the cables are worn or need adjustment.
